Braun calls fans to apologize

Published On: Sep 05 2013 09:44:24 PM CDT

MILWAUKEE -

The controversial Brewer Ryan Braun has started speaking out to fans.

Braun is calling some season ticket holders to apologize for his actions surrounding his use of performance enhancing drugs.

One of those fans to get a call was Pat Guenther, who owns Kelly’s Bleachers, a popular hangout for Brewers fans in Milwaukee.

“He said ‘I messed up, in a nutshell, I messed up. I just want to reach out and say I’m sorry,’” said Guenther.

Braun is suspended for the rest of this season and loses more than $3 million in salary after he said he started to use an illicit cream and lozenge to expedite his rehabilitation from a nagging injury.

Guenther said Braun actively calling fans speaks volumes of his character.

“Who hasn’t made a mistake? People move forward. I think that’s what Ryan is trying to do. He’s moving forward. He has no other option,” said Guenther.

The Brewers confirmed the team provided Braun with contact information for some season ticket holders at his request.
