A man is in custody in connection with a Jefferson bank robbery Tuesday, according to police.
Jefferson Police Chief Gary Bleecker said a man passed a note to a Badger Bank teller at 10:06 a.m. demanding money. The robber did not indicate he had a weapon and none was seen.
The man fled on foot headed east with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
Bleecker said Jefferson County deputies and city officers searched the area with a K-9 team for about 3 hours.
As law enforcement searched for the robber, Bleecker said a suspect was identified in part using surveillance images. The chief said a man was arrested at 12:57 p.m. during a traffic stop in the 1000 block of South Main Street, near the bank, which is at 1003 S. Main St.
Bleeker said he could not confirm if money was found with the man police arrested.
The department is not identifying the man until it has completed a criminal complaint, which could be Thursday or Friday, the chief said. The man arrested is being held at Jefferson County Jail.
In the report, the suspect was described as a white man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
