MADISON, Wis. -

Madison police are looking for two men who attacked a 51-year-old celebrating Father’s Day with his daughter downtown early Sunday morning, according to a release.

Police were dispatched to the Red Rock Saloon around 2 a.m. for reports of a substantial battery, officials said.

The 51-year-old fifth-grade science teacher from outside of Madison was celebrating Father’s Day with his adult daughter, police said. When he went to the bar to buy drinks, he was confronted by a man who punched him backwards into a group of people.

Another man punched the 51-year-old, knocking him unconscious, according to the release. The second man straddled the victim and repeatedly punched him in the face and head before leaving with the first attacker and a group of others.

The 51-year-old was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for a suspected concussion, a broken jaw and other non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Both of the attackers are described as white men in their 20s, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds, according to the release. One of the men was last seen wearing a blue flannel shirt and the other was last seen wearing a light-colored T-shirt with an emblem on the front.

Officials ask anyone with information on the attack to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
