Congratulations, Ohio! You are the most foul-mouthed state in the country, according to a new survey of more than 600,000 customer service phone calls analyzed by the Marchex Institute, the data and research arm of the ad firm Marchex.
Here are the five most foul-mouthed states in the country, according to the survey:
3. New Jersey
Marchex also gathered some fun facts from the call data, such as that 66 percent of the cursing came from men.
The calls that contained the most cursing were more than 10 minutes long. So the longer someone was on the phone, the more likely that call was to devolve.
Also, calls in the morning were twice as likely to produce cursing as calls in the afternoon or evening.
The survey also looked at which states were the least likely to curse on customer service calls. Here are the five least foul-mouthed states in the country:
