VERONA, Wis. -

Verona police said they arrested a number of people Saturday on charges of operating motor vehicles while intoxicated.

Verona police said they arrested Mark P. Jawson, of Marshall, at 12:53 a.m. Saturday on charges of fourth offense OWI, operating after revocation and obstructing an officer.

Verona police initially stopped Jawson for a defective vehicle light in the 100 block of North Shuman Street.

Police said Jawson fled on foot from the location of the traffic stop and was apprehended a short time later. He was processed on the OWI charge and booked into the Dane County Jail, according to a Verona Police Department news release.

At 2:49 a.m. Saturday, Verona police arrested Andrew J. Murray, of Mount Horeb, on a second offense OWI charge, according to the news release.

Verona police said they stopped Murray on East Verona Avenue for failing to stop for a flashing red light. He was processed on the OWI charge and released to a responsible party, police said.

The Verona Police Department said officers arrested Amanda L. Brummond, of Verona, on a charge of fifth offense OWI and Andrew R. Hetzel, of Sun Prairie, on a charge of first offense OWI.

Police said they stopped Brummond and Hetzel on Grove Avenue about 11:45 p.m. Saturday after they were seen driving recklessly on motorcycles.

Police said they determined both motorcyclists were under the influence of intoxicants and arrested.

Brummond was processed on the OWI charge and booked into the Dane County Jail. Hetzel was processed on the OWI charge and released to a responsible party.
