State offers safety reminders for Daylight Savings

Published On: Oct 30 2012 06:48:48 AM CDT
MADISON, Wis. -

The Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs says the switch to daylight saving time provides a good opportunity for homeowners to make a number of safety checks.

Clocks get moved back an hour Saturday night.

The DMA says that is a good time to check and replace batteries as needed on home smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.

The DMA also recommends that every home have a basic emergency kit with supplies such as food and water to last you and your family at least three days. Other items like a battery powered or crank radio, flashlights and first aid kit are also recommended.
