MADISON, Wis. -

A University of Wisconsin-Madison student was robbed Tuesday while studying in Memorial Library on the UW-Madison campus.

UW-Madison police said a man approached the student while she was studying in the study carrels of Memorial Library at about 10 a.m. and demanded her cellphone along with other items.

The student cooperated and was not harmed during the strong-arm robbery, according to a UW-Madison Police Department news release.

Police said they are actively looking for the robber, who is described as a black man in his early 30s, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and 180 pounds. He was wearing a navy blue zip jacket and a red and black baseball cap, police said.

UW-Madison police said they are reviewing video footage in the area to see if an identification of the robber can be made.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the UW-Madison Police Department at 608-262-2957.
