MADISON, Wis. -

Madison police said they have probable cause to arrest a man on battery and disorderly conduct charges after he followed a driver home and accosted him after a road rage incident.

The victim, a 30-year-old Madison man, said the suspect, a 51-year-old Madison man driving a black Mercedes, was so angry with him that he followed him to his home in the 2000 block of Kendall Avenue on Friday afternoon, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

The victim said the larger man grabbed him by the collar, pushed him up against the garage at his home, and then down to the ground, police said.

The 30-year-old told the other driver he did not want a fight, and encouraged the 51-year-old to leave. The victim said the suspect ignored his plea and proceeded to latch onto him, according to the incident report.

The victim was scratched on the neck during the scuffle, and his shirt's collar was ripped.

The younger man said the assailant said something about having military experience and being a lawyer, according to the incident report.

Police said the victim was able to break from the grasp, and the stranger drove away.

Police were provided his license plate number and found the Mercedes parked outside the suspect's downtown home. Police said the suspect wasn't found, but there is probable cause to arrest him.
