Published On: Dec 04 2012 11:38:59 AM CST

BELOIT, Wis. -

Four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in a residential neighborhood of Beloit, according to police.

Authorities said they were called to Eighth Street and Euclid Avenue at 4:50 a.m. and firefighters were needed to help extricate victims from both vehicles.

A vehicle driven by Spenser T. Hubbard, 22, was speeding north on Eighth Street when it struck a vehicle driven by Salvador Cabrera-Ortega, 40, of Beloit, which was traveling east on Euclid Avenue, according to police. Hubbard’s vehicle landed against a house at 502 Eighth St.

A 17-year-old girl in Hubbard’s vehicle was flown to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison and is in serious condition. Hubbard was sent to Mercy Hospital in Janesville with non-life-threatening injuries. Neither was wearing seat belts, according to police.

Cabrera-Ortega and his 6-year-old daughter were sent to Beloit Memorial Hospital, treated and released. The child was not restrained with a seat belt or car seat, according to police.

Investigators said they were on the scene until 8 a.m., with accident reconstruction assistance from the State Patrol.

Police believe alcohol or other drugs were a contributing factor in the crash.

Hubbard is being held on suspicion of causing injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. Police said additional charges are possible.
