Man killed in crash with semitrailer in Walworth Co.

TOWN OF DARIEN, Wis. -

The driver of a Chevy S-10 pickup truck was killed in a crash with a semitrailer Tuesday morning in Walworth County.

Walworth County sheriff's deputies responded to a report about 11:21 a.m. of an eastbound pickup truck versus a semitrailer crash with injuries on Highway 11 about 50 feet east of Old 89 Road in the Town of Darien.

Deputies found two vehicles had come to rest in the westbound lane of Highway 11.

The two vehicles involved were a westbound semitrailer milk hauler and a Chevy S-10 pickup truck, according to a Walworth County Sheriff's Office news release.

Sheriff's officials said the pickup truck lost control on the snow-covered road and slid into the westbound lane of Highway 11. The milk hauler struck the pickup truck broadside on the driver's side of the vehicle, sheriff's officials said.

Sheriff's officials said the driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck, Carlos R. Cantu, 44, of Lake Geneva, was killed upon impact. The Walworth County coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.

The driver of the milk hauler, Michael P. Forstrom, 31, of Brooklyn, was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.
