BROOKFIELD, Wis. -

Police said a Wisconsin man who killed his wife and two other women at a Milwaukee-area spa bought the gun used in the shooting spree two days after a court ordered him to turn in all firearms.

Radcliffe F. Haughton, 45, was ordered to turn in all weapons during a hearing Thursday in which his estranged wife obtained a four-year restraining order.

Zina Haughton, 42, told the court her husband had been terrorizing her for years.

Haughton had been ordered not to possess any firearms.

Agent Tom Ahern, of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said Radcliffe Haughton used a .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun in the mass shooting Sunday at the Azana Day Spa in Brookfield.

Police said Radcliffe Haughton was later found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the spa.

Haughton also was involved in a 90-minute standoff with police officers responding to a 911 call from his wife last year. Police officers who responded thought they saw Haughton point a gun at his wife. But police now say they never confirmed a weapon was present.
