A man got away with an undisclosed amount of cash from a south side Madison convenience store early Thursday morning after asking for change from the cashier, according to Madison police.

The robbery happened at the PDQ in the 2500 block of South Fish Hatchery Road just after 3 a.m. Thursday.

According to police, the man is described as a black man in his late 20s or early 30s, between 6 feet 3 and 6 feet 6 inches tall, with a thin build, wearing a red beanie cap and a dark jacket.

Police said he ran away from the store after the robbery and was last seen heading northbound on Fish Hatchery Road. A K-9 was unable to track down the suspect. Police said the clerk was not injured in the robbery.
