COLUMBUS, Wis. -

Wisconsin’s attorney general announced Friday that a Columbus woman will stand trial for allegedly stealing from a parish while working there.

Susan Droessler was bound over for trial Friday after waiving a preliminary hearing and entering a not guilty plea, according to a Wisconsin Department of Justice statement.

The statement said Droessler is charged with theft after allegedly misappropriating funds from St. Jerome Parish and School in Columbus, Wis., while working there as secretary and bookkeeper.

The Columbus Police Department found in an investigation that Droessler had used school and parish checks to pay for personal expenses totaling more than $22,000 in Walmart and credit card expenses, according to the statement. Droessler also received health benefits reaching $88,000 that she was not entitled to.

Droessler is currently out of custody on a signature bond and will return to court for a status conference at an unspecified date to be released next week, the statement said.
