Officer Donald Bishop, 32

Friends and colleagues are in mourning this weekend after the death of a Town of Brookfield police officer.

Donald Bishop was responding to a burglary call when he died of an apparent heart attack.

Bishop was just 32 years old but had already more than 10 years experience serving as an officer, EMT, and firefighter.

Officer Bishop was driving his squad car when he died. His car crashed into a front yard.

For the town's police force, Bishop’s death is an overwhelming loss.

"It was an honor to work with Don here at the town of Brookfield," said police chief Chris Perket. "Residents of the municipality were fortunate to have him serve."

"This is a sad day in the town of Brookfield," said town chairman Keith Henderson. "As a town, we'd like to offer our prayers to Officer Bishop, his family, and his friends."

Officer Bishop worked with the Town of Brookfield since August 2011.

Funeral services are pending.
