Jimmy the Groundhog predicts spring's arrival every year in Sun Prairie

Sun Prairie, Wis. -

Groundhog Day brought out dozens of people in Sun Prairie Sunday morning, many hoping to hear a brutal Wisconsin winter will be cut short.

"It's been so cold, I can do the snow, I can handle that. But the below zero? I don't now if I can handle more," said Morgan Beaden.

Beaden and others were up before the sun to get a glimpse of Sun Prairie's groundhog Jimmy. Most of them were hoping he wouldn't get a glimpse of his own shadow.

Sun Prairie Mayor, John Murray helped interpret what Jimmy was saying.

"Six more weeks of winter!" Murray said to the crowd.

"Well I think like anybody who's been through this absolutely rough winter, I was hoping for an early spring. But unfortunately that wasn't the prediction and Jimmy is never wrong," Murray said off the stage.

"I'm a little bummed. I don't know if I can handle it," Beaden said.
