Squirrel causes power outage in Platteville

Energy sources: 35.3 percent primarily use electricity, 50.4 percent primarily use piped gas, 14.3 percent use another source


A power outage left about 2600 customers in the Platteville area in the dark Friday morning.

Alliant Energy said the outage started at 8:29 a.m. and was restored by 9:47 a.m.

The outage was caused by a squirrel that got into a substation.
