Python breaks into charity

Police investigating a suspected burglary in Australia were met with a 19-foot-long slithering surprise.

A huge python apparently broke into the charity store in Queensland by entering through a roof that was damaged in a cyclone two years ago, leaving a smelly pool of vomit-like liquid and destruction in its wake, The Associated Press reported.

Initially, police thought they were dealing with a human burglar.

"We thought a person had fallen through the ceiling because the roof panel was cut in half," police Sgt. Don Auld told the AP. "When they've hit the floor, they've vomited and then staggered and fallen over. That's what we thought anyway."

The snake somehow managed to elude authorities until the next day, when staff members at the St. Vincent de Paul store spotted it lying alongside a wall.

A local snake catcher managed to capture the reptile, which was released into a nearby wetlands area.
