A 15-year-old girl who crashed a stolen truck into a home Monday night faces multiple charges, including operating while intoxicated, according to a release.

She was cited for operating while intoxicated, hit and run/unattended vehicle, operating after suspension of a license, reckless driving and hit and run/property adjacent to highway, authorities said.

Police are requesting additional charges of recklessly endangering safety, resisting an officer and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.

Town of Madison police were proactively patrolling the Burr Oak Neighborhood because of recent burglaries in the area, officials said.

An officer approached a Nissan Frontier and asked the female occupant to stay parked so he could move his squad car out of the middle of the road, according to a release. As the officer positioned his vehicle behind the Nissan, the girl rolled up her window and started to drive away.

Police said the Nissan accelerated quickly, lost control and hit a mailbox and a vehicle in the 900 block of Burr Oak Lane. The girl continued driving the vehicle away from the area.

The officer did not attempt to pursue the vehicle, but continued on the suspected path of the vehicle, police said. The officer observed the vehicle had crashed into a house in the 2000 block of Beld Street.

According to the release, the officer also observed a rear passenger of the vehicle flee from the area and the homeowner holding onto the driver just outside the vehicle. That passenger, a 17-year-old male, was taken into custody and arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle without the owner's consent, party to a crime of recklessly endangering safety and resisting an officer. Police said the teen has a history of burglary.

Police determined the vehicle was stolen from the city of Fitchburg and had not yet been reported, officials said.

The crash caused significant damage making the home uninhabitable, according to a release.
