HEENAN, PAUL

Paul Heenan, 30, of Madison

MADISON, Wis. -

The friends and family of Paul Heenan are organizing a two-day music festival to celebrate his life and honor his memory.

Heenan was shot and killed by Madison police officer Steven Heimsness in November when the officer was responding to a report of a home burglary on the city's east side.

The festival, named Paulie Fest, is scheduled for May 31 and June 1 at High Noon Saloon, at 701A E. Washington Ave. starting at 7 p.m. each day. The performers knew Heenan as a bandmate, engineer and coworker.

Heenan was involved in music when he was a student at Oregon High School and the list of performers on May 31 includes the Oregon High School Jazz Combo.

Money raised during the event will support the Fender Music Foundation, which provides instruments to school music classrooms, after school programs and music therapy programs.
