Michael James Gensler

JANESVILLE--- Michael James Gensler, age 63, of Janesville, died Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Rock Haven Nursing Home. He was born on August 29, 1950 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of James Alois and Leona Anne (Jablonski) Gensler. Michael married JoAnne Higney on April 19, 1974 in St. Louis, MO.

He was employed by the City of Janesville as the Assistant Transit Director of the Janesville Transit System. Michael was an active parishioner of St. William Catholic Church, where he was a member of the choir.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnne; 3 children: Katherine Gensler of Washington, DC, Elizabeth (Matthew Sawtell) Gensler of Grand Rapids, MI and Stephen (Devon) Gensler of Chicago, IL; a grandchild, Lillian; his mother, Leona Gensler of Waukesha, WI; 8 siblings: Sandra (David) Wick of Brookfield, WI, Eric Gensler of Waukesha, WI, Patrick (Janice) Gensler of Lisbon, WI, Peter (Jane) Gensler of Kewauskum, WI, Timothy (Mary) Gensler of Menomonee Falls, WI, Christopher (Cheryl) Gensler of Milwaukee, WI, James (Marsha) Gensler of Waukesha, WI and Jill (Rick) Gardner of Oak Creek, WI, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 9, 2013 at St. William Catholic Church, with Fr. John Auby presiding. Friends may call on Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Schneider Apfel Schneider & Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory and again on Monday, September 9, 2013 from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at St. William Catholic Church.

Memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice or the Second Harvest Food Bank of South Central Wisconsin.
