MATC mentoring program to receive $69K grant

MADISON, Wis. -

Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corp. announced Wednesday it will be giving Madison College’s Scholars of Mentoring Program a $69,000 grant.

The grant will go toward establishing a learning community for 50 first- and second-year students, offering quality support services and interventions to develop positive character traits and leadership abilities, according to a release.

Officials said the MATC program brings male and female students of color together with mentors from within the Madison College community who provide support, encouragement and guidance for success in college and the community.

The Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corp. awarded $4.5 million in College Success grants to 28 programs across Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin that provide specialized help that’s known to keep more students enrolled and on track academically, socially and financially for program completion, according to the release.
