Marvin Larson

MADISON/EAGLE RIVER-Marvin Larson, age 91, lifelong resident of Madison and Eagle River, passed away on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Agrace HospiceCare.

He was born on Oct. 8, 1922, in Stoughton, the son of Louis and Gladys Larson. Marvin was a U.S. Navy veteran and served on the U.S.S. Dayton as a member of the Commission Team. He married Phyllis Johnson on Oct. 9, 1944, in Madison. Marvin enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. He also enjoyed traveling. Marvin retired from Gisholt Machine Company as well as Back Water Heater Company. He most recently was a member of the Madison Honor Flight’s visit to the World War II Veterans Memorial.

Marvin is survived by his sons, Barry (Linda) Larson of Warner Robins, Ga. and Craig (Judy) Larson of Lodi; daughter, Jackie (John) Spiess of Eagle River; grandchildren, Heath (Tonya) Larson, Christopher (Carolyn) Larson, Monique (Matt) Hicks, Nick (Madelyne) Larson, Heidi, Natalie, Clayton, and Lacey Spiess; great-grandchildren, Jaelyn and Brogan Hicks, Haylee Larson and Kalea Larson, Tyler, Hunter, and Dakota Court, and Olivia Weber; and two sisters, Delores Smith and Mary Lou Stephenson. He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis “Pudge”; parents; brother, Larry Larson; sister, Rosemarie Platt; and granddaughter, Melani Larson.

Funeral services for Marvin will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at noon on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, with Pastor Karen Locken presiding. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Our heartfelt thanks to all of the Agrace HospiceCare support team as he made his final journey.
