MARSHALL, Wis. -

Two Marshall Police Department employees helped deliver a baby girl in the police department parking lot Thursday morning, according to a release.

The father, who was also celebrating a birthday, ran into the Marshall Police Department looking for help, according to the release.

Officer Kristine Quam and her sister Deanna Chadwick, an administrative assistant at the police department, helped deliver the baby minutes after the parents got to the police department around 7:45 a.m., according to the release.

An on-duty officer said the two sisters made a great team assisting the mother and helping bring the newborn into the world.

“It will be hard to top this year’s birthday,” said the father.

Police said the mom and baby were transported to a local hospital in stable condition, and are doing well.

“It’s great that our staff were ready, willing and able to rise to the occasion as they went above and beyond the call of duty to assist one of our residents and share in a moment of joy,” said Marshall Police Chief Lee Hellenbrand.
