DARLINGTON, Wis. -

A man convicted in a deadly drunken driving case was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 10 years of extended supervision Wednesday.

Kyle Monahan, 24, of Shullsburg, was convicted of homicide while operating a vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration and homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle for a crash that killed a woman in Lafayette County in August 2011.

Rebecca L. Cushman, 21, of Dixfield, Maine, died after a crash on Dunbarton Road, about a mile east of Shullsburg near the intersection of Lavery Road an Aug. 21, 2011. Monahan was flown to a hospital in Rockford, Ill., after the crash.

Cushman’s mother testified at Monahan’s sentencing.

Deputies said excessive speed was a factor in the crash, and victims weren't wearing seat belts.
