MADISON, Wis. -

One of two men who offered to help a stranded motorist pulled a gun on the victim, according to Madison police.

Officers said a 28-year-old Madison man was called to the intersection of New Washburn Way and South High Point Road by a 25-year-old friend Wednesday night to help her with a flat tire.

While he was helping her, a car pulled up behind the woman’s car and two men got out and asked if they could help. The victim declined assistance, and the men went back to their car. One of the men got back out of the car with a gun.

The victim said he armed himself with a tire iron and asked his friend to call police. The gunman got back in the car and fled.

The victim told police the armed man said nothing and it was not clear if the man was attempting to rob him or if he was upset about the victim turning down his offers to help.

The men are described as black and 30 to 40 years old. One was 6 feet tall and weighed 180 pounds, had short hair and was wearing larger prescription glasses, a jacket, hat and gloves. The other was 6 feet 3 inches tall, 250 to 280 pounds with a large build. He was wearing a dark jacket and hat.

They fled in black, four-door car, possibly a Grand Prix.
