JANESVILLE, Wis. -

A 35-year-old was found guilty of seriously injuring two people when he attacked them with an ax in April, according to a release.

Jeffrey Starkman was found guilty of two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, burglary of a dwelling while using a dangerous weapon, attempting to flee or elude an officer and two counts of aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, according to the release.

On April 13, Starkman hit Katrina Patrick and Jonathan Barthel in the head multiple times with a roofing ax, according to the release. He attacked Patrick while she stood on her porch, then went into Patrick’s apartment and attacked Barthel.

Starkman left the house in his vehicle, and led Janesville police on a high-speed chase down the interstate after they located him the next morning, officials said. Police took Starkman into custody when the chase ended in Beloit.

Starkman’s bond was revoked, and he was taken into custody pending his sentencing that is scheduled for March 28. He could face a maximum of 181 years in prison.
