MADISON, Wis. -

A man attempted to rob a Monroe Street house and bit the resident after the two got into a fight Friday afternoon, according to a release.

Officials said a 50-year-old man was outside his Monroe Street home in the 2800 block of Monroe Street Friday around 4:30 p.m. when a strange-acting man approached the house on the sidewalk.

The man swatted at a potted plant on the resident’s porch step and grabbed at the victim’s front door, according to the release.

Officials said the resident asked the man what he was doing and the two got into a fight.

During the fight, the man bit the resident’s finger and broke the skin, according to the release. The man ran toward Crandall Street.

The attacker is described as a white man, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with a slight build, unkempt short brown hair, and a beard and mustache, according to the release. The man was last seen wearing eyeglasses, a bright green shirt and blue jeans.
