Man beaten with cane, robbed, police say

MADISON, Wis. -

A 69-year-old Madison man told police he suffered broken bones in both of his arms when he was attacked and robbed by an acquaintance.

The victim said he and Hosiea D Chestnut, 49, of DeForest, were hanging out in his East Gorham Street Apartment on Saturday when he was struck by a cane.

He told police Chestnut fled with some of the victim's money after the attack.

Chestnut was arrested Thursday by DeForest police on suspicion of armed robbery and substantial battery.
