HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC) -

An associate of Aaron Hernandez, who has filed a lawsuit claiming the former New England Patriot shot him in the face outside a Florida nightclub, was shot again at a Hartford lounge late Sunday, police said.

Alexander Bradley, of East Hartford, was shot at the Vevo Lounge on Meadow Street.

Hartford Police Lt. Brian Foley said Bradley was shot multiple times in the leg. Police say that after Bradley was shot he went and got a gun from his car, went into bar and fired shots.

Officers spotted a car fleeing scene and when they pulled the car over, Bradley fell out, police said Monday.

In February 2012 -- a few months after his daughter's birth -- Hernandez got into a fight with Bradley at a South Florida strip club, according to a civil lawsuit. When they left the club, Bradley claims in the federal suit, Hernandez shot him in the face, resulting in Bradley losing his right eye.

Bradley, who records indicate has a 2006 conviction for selling drugs, refused to tell Palm Beach County sheriff's deputies who shot him, according to a Florida police report.

So the criminal investigation was dropped.

Hernandez was a football star in his native Bristol and at the University of Florida before he was drafted by the Patriots in 2010.

But Hernandez's football career came to a screeching halt when he was charged with murder last June in the shooting death of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd, whose bullet-ridden body was found in an industrial park less than a mile from Hernandez's North Attleborough, Mass. home.

Investigators are also probing Hernandez's connection to a July 2012 drive-by shooting in which two men were killed in Boston's South End. Police believe that Bradley was with Hernandez that night.

Boston police contacted Hartford police Sunday night to ask about Bradley shooting, but it is unclear if there is a connection to Hernandez case.

A prosecutor in the Lloyd murder case has referred to Bradley as Hernandez's "former right-hand man" and said that prior to February's dispute, the two were "inseparable for months."

After Bradley was shot, the prosecutor said, Hernandez replaced him with a new right-hand man, Ernest Wallace, who is alleged to be an accomplice in the Lloyd shooting.
