Mallards win Northwoods League Title, defeat Duluth 12-3

The Madison Mallards are the 2013 Northwoods League Champions. The Mallards defeated Duluth  12-3 in Game 2 of the Summer Collegiate World Series Friday night.

The Mallards scored runs 12 runs in the first five innings and never looked back. Joe McCarthy had a big three run home run in the second inning to get the offense going.

The playoffs did not get off to the best start for the Mallards. They lost its opening game 15-0 but they rallied to win four straight games and take home its second league title in franchise history.

Donnie Scott led Madison to the title in just his first season as manager.

The Mallards won the first half south division championship and finished their season with a 42-29 record.
