Mallards win in Alexandria, 2-0

The Madison Mallards defeated the Alexandria Blue Anchors, 2-0 in a Northwoods League game in Alexandria, Minnesota Monday night.

The Mallards scored first in the fourth inning on a ground out by Will Krug and added another run in the ninth on a Tim Higgenbotham home run.

On the mound, five Mallards pitchers allowed just three hits.

Starting pitcher Rob McDonnell (3-1) went five and two-thirds innings and gave up only one hit while walking three and striking out three.

Tim Black pitched the ninth for his eighth save.

The Mallards are now 15-10 on the season and will host the Wisconsin Woodchucks at Warner Park Tuesday at 7:05 pm.
