Mallards get walk-off win over Wisconsin Rapids

MADISON, Wis. -

The Madison Mallards are above .500 for the second half this season following a walk-off 7-6 win against Wisconsin Rapids at the Duck Pond Sunday.

Mike Fitzgerald ripped a pitch over the second basemen's head with two outs in the ninth to single home Brock Stewart for the victory.

Mallards reliever Danny Sullivan got the victory and improves to 3-0.

The Mallards other runs came in the sixth and seventh innings when they scored three in each frame. The Rafters also scored three runs each in the fourth and the seventh innings.

The Mallards broke up a no-hit bid from Rafters starter John Kravetz in the bottom of the sixth and managed to score three more in the inning.

Fitzgerald led all Mallards hitters by going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Tate Matheny and Stewart also got a pair of hits in the contest.

The Mallards head to Eau Claire Monday for one away game against the Eau Claire Express before returning to the "Duck Pond" Tuesday for the second game in the series. First pitch for Tuesday is 7:05 pm.
