MADISON, Wis. -

The Mallards are in the midst of a home stand that, combined with last weeks All-Star Break, will keep them from playing a road game for nearly two weeks.

Sunday, the Mallards took full advantage, beating Mankato 4-2 at Warner Park.

The Mallards couldn't muster anything for the first five innings of play as Mankato's starter Cameron Giannini kept Madison guessing.

That changed in the sixth when Tate Matheny belted a two run blast. The Mallards tacked on two more in the inning to take a 4-0 lead.

The Moondogs were able to get within 4-2 after scoring two in the eighth, but the Mallards were able to get a 1-2-3 ninth inning from reliever Jack Livingston, which sealed the 4-2 win.
