Madison officer's dog stolen

MADISON, Wis. -

The sergeant of the Madison police canine unit reported her 7-year old Shih Tzu was stolen after it got loose on Friday, according to a report from Madison police.

Prius the dog somehow got out of the sergeant's fenced in yard and disappeared last Friday.

According to the report, the sergeant posted a notice on Craigslist about her missing pet and received a call from another dog owner who said she had seen Prius on Midvale Boulevard where she had tried to help the dog.

According to the report, the caller said another woman came over to her and picked up Prius. When the caller asked if it was her dog, the woman replied it was not, but she was taking it anyway. 

The woman was described as 20 to 30 years old, possibly Hispanic, driving a four-door silver car.
