Madison libraries, streets division to host composting classes
Madison Public Library will be hosting a series of home composting classes led by the city of Madison Streets Division at four locations, according to a release.
The classes, being taught by Madison’s Recycling Coordinator George Dreckmann, cover home composting basics, an introduction to compostable materials, where to put your compost bin and how to tend to your compost, according to the release. Plans for building a compost bin will be available, and information about leaf management will be presented.
All classes are free of charge:
- April 13, 2 p.m. at Pinney Library at 204 Cottage Grove Road (608-224-7100)
- April 26, 2 p.m. at Meadowridge Library at 5740 Raymond Road (608-288-6160)
- April 27, 2 p.m. at Central Library at 201 W. Mifflin St. (608-266-6300)
- May 24, 2 p.m. at Hawthorne Library at 2707 E. Washington Ave. (608-246-4548)
Anyone interested in buying a compost bin can do so at the Madison Compost Bin and Rain Barrel Truckload Sale at the Alliant Energy Center May 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., officials said. Compost bins, rain barrels, kitchen scrap pails and compost turners will be available at discounted prices.
