Lowell H. Ahrensmeyer

Madison - Lowell Ahrensmeyer, age 88, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Capitol Lakes Health Center.

Lowell was born on February 4, 1926 in North Freedom to Howard and Lucille (Dahkle) Ahrensmeyer.

He is a graduate of Baraboo High School and married Mildred Wharry of Wisconsin Dells in 1948. He was employed at Oscar Mayer for 35 years and was foreman in the hog and beef processing departments. Lowell enjoyed the outdoor life as a hunter, fisherman and gardener. As a consummate handyman, he was generous with his time and many talents. He was a skilled woodworker and found great pleasure in creating wooden bowls on his lathe and as well as many beautifully carved birds and animals.

Lowell is survived by Millie, his wife of 66 years; daughter Carol (Jerry) Connelly of Madison; a daughter Janet (Rick) Heimbruch of Waunakee; granddaughters, Kelly (Craig) Weisensel, Kris (Darin) Holden and Aly Heimbruch (friend Ryan Fielding); great-granddaughters Eryn and Leah Weisensel; and sister, Betty (Roger) Roznos of Baraboo.

A Prayer Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, with Rev. Gerry Kuhnke officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you for the wonderful, compassionate care from the staff at Capitol Lakes and Agrace Hospice.
