MADISON -

The State Wrestling Championships took place Saturday at the Kohl Center. Plenty of local student athletes were able to accomplish their dream of winning a state championship.

Starting in division one, Sun Prairie's Jared Scharenbrock won the 152 class championship, scoring a 7-3 decision. Scharenbrock won the title at 145 in 2013. Scharenbrock's teammate Wesley Schultz won the 182 class, scoring a 15-0 tech fall.

Elsewhere in division one, at 126, Collin Kraus scored two points in the closing seconds of his match to take home the crown.

No local boys won a championship in division two, but in division three it was all about Lancaster. At 126, Kyle Mezera won a 5-2 decision to win a state championship. At 132, Mezera's teammate Cole Martin kept his undefeated season alive with a 9-2 decision.
