Lloyd "Ivy" R. Iverson

MADISON- Lloyd R. “Ivy” Iverson, age 90, died peacefully on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at UW Hospital in Madison.

He was born on Feb. 18, 1924, in Stoughton, Wis., the son of Theodore and Mabel (Gronlid) Iverson. “Ivy” served three years in the Army Infantry World War II, in both theaters, Europe and Pacific. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge. On Aug. 23, 1947, Ivy married the love of his life, Arlene Offerdahl. He graduated from the UW-Madison in Civil Engineering in 1951. Ivy was hired by Wisconsin Power and Light (Alliant Energy) after graduation and worked there for 35 years and retired on Aug. 1, 1986. He took up flying in his 50’s and received a pilot’s license. Through the years, he enjoyed bowling, golf, skiing, working cross-word puzzles, biking and drawing. Ivy was a member of Blackhawk Country Club for over 20 years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Arlene; son, Charles (Laura) Iverson; daughter Nancy Webb; three grandchildren, Eric (Sara) Levander, Jeffrey (Lindsay) Levander and Rebecca Levander; four great-grandchildren, Hailee Levander, Nils Levander, Isabella Levander and Connor Levander; his sister, Ann Nelson; and three nieces, Linda (Tim) Green, Kristi Wright and Lisa (Jeff) Alme. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Theodore (Teddy) Iverson, Jr., and Merrill Iverson.

Funeral Services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Bethel Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.

Ivy was the most caring and compassionate man. He was devoted to his family and was liked by everyone he came in contact with. He will be dearly missed.
