Lilly Lange age 98, died on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

She was born on January 7, 1915 in the town of Fountain Prairie to Martin and Ella (Munzel) Vick. Lilly was married to Herbert F. Lange on August 26, 1937 in Elkader, IA.

From the age of 14 until her husband’s death in 1979, Lilly was the caregiver in her family for other family members. She was a lifelong resident of Columbus and an active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Columbus where she enjoyed serving at funeral luncheons and other events.

Lilly made many visits to Bethesda in Watertown where she volunteered her time. She found delight in tending to her flower garden and just doing acts of kindness for others.

Survivors include her three daughters, Genevieve (Bernard) Setz of Columbus, Nora (Charles) Thiede of Madison, Bonnie (Jerry) Sobieski of Reno, NV; six grandchildren, Wendy Mueller of Columbus, James (Helen) Setz of Waterloo, Neal (Leann) Setz of Columbus, Brian Thiede and Lynn Thiede both of Sun Prairie, Joseph (Julie) Sobieski of Fayetteville NC; six great grandchildren, Samantha, Oscar, Oliver Setz, Jake, Robin, Austin Thiede; a step-granddaughter, Val (James) Humphry of Philadelphia; two step-great grandchildren, Madison and Mason; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Warren Setz; three brothers; one sister-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 27, 2013 at ZION EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Columbus. Rev. Daniel Sims will officiate. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Columbus. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Friday at the church. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church or the charity of one’s choice.
