Laurence Junior Dickman

Laurence “Junior” Dickman, Jr. age 78 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Saturday, March 29, 2014 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Picha Funeral Home in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Dennis Schueler officiating. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.

Junior was born March 19, 1936 in Wisconsin Dells the son of Laurence and Florence (Stroede) Dickman. In March of 1954 he married Anna Waltman. Junior worked most of his life as a painter, being a member of Painters Union Local 802 and contracted primarily in the Madison area. For 15 years he was employed at University of Wisconsin Madison where he retired from. He was a member of the Kilbourn Volunteer Fire Department from 1968 to 1986. Junior was an avid outdoors person and loved hunting deer and turkey, fishing both out of a boat or on the ice, and he was a proud owner of property down by the Wisconsin River he referred to as the “40”. He also enjoyed using his tractor to work in his immense garden which he tended with his wife. Most of the produce was eventually given to his many friends around the area which in itself was rewarding to him. Over the years his best pals have been Chesapeake retriever dogs which he always named Chester.

Junior is survived by his beloved wife, Anna; a son, Kevin of Briggsville, Wisconsin; daughters, Sharon (Joe) Herndon-Ashworth of Rock Springs, Wisconsin, Jeanne (John) Squires of Beloit, Wisconsin and Nancy Sheil of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Charlie, Dick, John, Dean and Eddie; sisters, Shirley and Linda; numerous stepbrothers, stepsisters and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Michael Squires and a sister Audrey.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the family.
