James P. "Jim" Richard

MADISON-James P. “Jim” Richard, age 81, passed away on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born on May 31, 1932, in Kieler, the son of Ed and Alice Richard. Jim married Mary Johanns on February 24, 1962, in Platteville. He was in the U.S. Air Force and graduated from UW-Platteville with a degree in engineering. Jim worked for the City of Madison for 35 years, and retired as City Engineer. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, travelling, reading, hunting, fishing, the outdoors, camping, and wood working. He was also a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church.

Jim is survived by his children, Sue, Chris (Pam), Phil (Stacy), and Angela; grandchildren, Tess and Blake; brothers, John (Joan) Richard, Tom (Jeannette) Richard, and Larry (Diane) Richard; sister, Jeanette Klaas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; three sisters, Dorothy, Violet, and Carol; and brother, Bob.

Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, with Father Randy Timmerman presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service on Sunday.
