James F. “Big Jim” Svoboda

MADISON-James F. “Big Jim” Svoboda, age 64, of Monona, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013, at his home.

He was born in Chicago, Ill., the son of James and Ruth (Wilson) Svoboda. He was a member of Sobriety Open-mindedness Brotherhood Equals Recovery Motorcycle Group. He was a very active A.A. member celebrating 5 years of sobriety. Jim loved his mother, his children, and his grandchildren. He enjoyed lake fishing, boating, cooking, and riding his trike.

Jim is survived by his children, Jody Lynn (David) Rhodes, James F. (Valerie) Svoboda III, and Jamie Ann (Brandon) Lemmons; grandchildren, Jackson and Hannah Svoboda, Eleanor and Samantha Rhodes, and Kendal and Dylan Lemmons; mother, Ruth Svoboda; sisters, Janice (John) Dietz and Ruthann (Bradley) Kort; former spouses, Kay (Machotka) Svoboda and Linda Olson; and special friend, Debra Wall.

A Memorial Service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013, with the Rev. Scott Wetlaufer presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated.
