BLANCHARDVILLE -

Inez Doris (Disrud) Watrud, age 91, of Blanchardville died Friday, June 14, 2013, at her home.

Inez was born November 20, 1921, to Oscar and Inga (Kittleson) Disrud at the family farm in Perry Township, Dane County, WI. She attended Meadowview Rural School and Blanchardville High School, graduating in 1940. On August 31, 1941, she married Robert E. Watrud at the old York Lutheran Church.

Inez's life centered around her family, friends, and numerous church and community organizations. As her family got older, she became more involved in organizations like the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and PTA. She was a member and officer of the Dobson-Johnson Legion Auxiliary of which she retired from the Presidency at their last meeting in June. She had served in that capacity for a number of years as well as chairing the Poppy program.

She worked many, many years at the local Bloodmobile canteen and had donated 18 plus gallons of blood. She was a long time member of Blanchardville Lutheran Church where she had been a member of the women's group and served as the Sunday school treasurer until her recent fall in March.

Inez ("Iney") loved to cook, bake, scrapbook, travel with Robert and her children, garden, and play cards, being a member of a 500 and Bridge Club for many years. She also had an incredible knowledge of local and family histories.

Inez is survived by her 3 children, Robert Jr. (Judy) Watrud of Blanchardville; Marilyn (Roger) Schmitz of Mount Horeb; and Ron Watrud of New Richmond, WI.; one sister, Isabel Dobson and one brother-in-law, Harland Watrud, both of Blanchardville; one sister-in-law, Patti Watrud, Sheboygan, WI; 10 grandchildren, Jeff, Tina, Sara, Connie, Carla, Cris, Jamey, Micah, Aaron and Robert; 17 great grandchildren, Amanda, Laura, Logan, Ethan, Maggie, Colin, Alex, Andrew, Aubree, Lucas, Jordan, Ian, Allison, Sam, Taya, Alexa, and Jaxon; and many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Alton; three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Arlene & Parnell Hamilton, Alta and Julian Olson, and Carol and Lincoln Barber; brothers-in law, Herbert Dobson and Dean Watrud; sister-in-law, Marie Watrud; and 2 grandchildren, David and Diane Schmitz in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at 11:00 AM at the Blanchardville Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Gruner officiating and burial in Graceland Cemetery, Blanchardville. Visitation will be at the church on Monday evening, June 17, 2013 from 4-8 p.m.

Thanks to the Saether Funeral Home for assisting the family and Hospice and Brooke for their care and support. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
