Howard Delane Mauritz

JANESVILLE---Howard Delane Mauritz, age 80, of Janesville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at St. Mary's Janesville Hospital. He was born in Tigerton, WI on June 12, 1933, the son of Ferdinand and Sylvia (Jones) Mauritz. He took up the machinist trade at Boys Tech, in Milwaukee and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953, serving 2 years at Fort Hood, TX. Howard married Delores Pellman on June 24, 1953, in Dubuque, IA.

He was employed by General Motors for 31 years, retiring in 1986. He was proud of his accomplishments of building 2 homes for his family in Janesville. Over the years, he was always happy to help everyone with building and remodeling. Howard enjoyed gardening, polka music, dancing, traveling, fishing, camping, and spending time with family. He was a long time member of St. William Catholic Church. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Delores June Pellman Mauritz; 3 children: Joyce (Mark) Stricklin, Chris (Randy) Vine and Steven (Trisha) Mauritz all of Janesville; 7 grandchildren: Amber (Andy) Glass, Adam (Allie) Vine, Katelyn Vine all of Janesville, Jasmine Mauritz of Carbondale, CO, Seth and Payton Stricklin and Olivia Mauritz all of Janesville; 1 great granddaughter, Kenlee Vine and baby Glass on the way; and 2 brothers, Richard (Erma) Mauritz of Milwaukee and Harold Mauritz of Tigerton. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers: George, Leonard, Ray and Edward Mauritz; and a sister, Marie Leonardt.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH with Rev. John Auby officiating.

A visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 to 12:00 noon at the church. Entombment will be in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY is assisting the family.
