High capacity wells change being delayed in budget

Published On: Jun 18 2013 02:49:20 PM CDT

MADISON, Wis. -

Republican Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says he hopes that changes to the state budget being made in the Assembly will be enough to satisfy concerns of Senate Republicans.

But Fitzgerald said Tuesday he doesn't know yet if the Senate will seek additional changes to the budget when it debates the plan later this week.

Assembly Speaker Robin Vos detailed some of the changes the Assembly planned to make to the budget, including delaying a loosening of requirements for high capacity wells and undoing limits on a property tax credit program for veterans.

Republican Sen. Dale Schultz says he hasn't seen the Assembly's proposed changes, but he still has significant problems with other parts of the budget including expansion of private school vouchers and allowing bail bondsmen.
