Helping Each Other
HELPING EACH OTHER
Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the Barneveld tornado that killed nine people and leveled the town. The storm that destroyed most of Moore, Oklahoma on Monday was perhaps twice the size, and tragically has caused more than twice the number of deaths. But none of us who saw Barneveld will ever forget the incredible images of devastation. It’s all hard to absorb. And it takes a long time to recover.
The folks in Moore need help. And it’s up to us to step up and provide it. The Red Cross is always a good option. They are on the scene and you can count on them. A donation will be put to good use. Helping is what we do in these situations, situations that are becoming more frequent. Climate change may or may not have contributed to this tornado, but is unquestionably causing more severe weather events. We need to plan for them and be ready to help whenever and wherever we can. We know what it feels like. And we likely will again.
