A southern Wisconsin law enforcement leader is hanging up his badge after more than 30 years.

Jeff Skatrud is retiring as Green County Sheriff after serving 34 years in his enforcement career.

Skatrud said it has been an honor and pleasure to serve as sheriff.

"I have confidence that we're leaving the department in good hands as I wouldn't have it any other way and will assist in the transition in any way that I can," Skatrud said.

His last day will be in September.
