Gov. Scott Walker has approved airport improvement projects in Rock County and Boscobel, according to a release.

Walker announced Monday a $1.045 million project for interior renovations of the terminal building at the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport.

The project includes constructing new administrative officers, a pilot lounge, a conference room, restrooms and a future restaurant area inside the airport terminal building, officials said.

The state will contribute $753,000, and Rock County will contribute $293,000, according to the release. The project is expected to start this month and end this fall.

Walker also announced a $546,579 project to design and construct a new building at the Boscobel Airport.

The project will construct a new LEED certified and ADA accessible terminal building, according to the release. The new building will also have a conference room, bathrooms and a waiting room for airport users.

The state will contribute $22,882, the city of Boscobel will contribute $22,882, and Federal Aviation Administration will contribute $500,815. The building’s architectural design is complete, and construction is expected to start this summer and be complete by winter.

Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport and Boscobel Airport are two of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan, which makes them eligible for state and federal funding, officials said.
