One the state's top pitchers Nicole Newman and Madison LaFollette take on Middleton at Olbrich Park.

Behind 15 strikeouts from senior pitcher Nicole Newman, Lafollette beat Middleton 3-0 Thursday afternoon at Olbrich park in our Prep Mania Game of the Week.

The Lancers scored two runs in the bottom of the first. Amy Lanzendorf had an RBI.

Newman struck out eight of the first nine batters she faced. She gave up a bunt hit in the fourth. She only allowed two hits and no runs.

Afterward, Newman was asked if she gets frustrated when teams try to bunt on her.

"Not at all. I keep throwing to my catcher and keep throwing strikes and I can relax and my defense at our corners are always ready. I can just rely on them right now. We are making plays and that is great," said Newman.

The state tournament is about a month away and Newman hopes the Lancers keep getting better.

"There is no limit at all once we get hitting and get a few runs in the first inning like we did today. We need to still keep going and putting the pedal on the gas that makes us play better. We are calm and relaxed; we can just play ball," said Newman.
