Florence B. Reese, 94, of Platteville, died on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Epione Pavilion, Cuba City.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2014 at First English Lutheran Church, Platteville. Rev. Michael Short will officiate. Burial will be at Belmont Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday, at the church. Florence was born on March 2, 1920, in Belmont, WI, the daughter of Henry and Emmeline (Frehner) Voigts. She was united in marriage to Arthur K. Reese on December 7, 1942 in Dubuque, Iowa. They have celebrated over 71 years of marriage. To the union, four children were born, three daughters and a son. Florence helped farm along the side of her husband for many years and did housekeeping for many businesses and families. She also was a nanny for many small children. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church and also belonged to the Ladies Packet Group and Women’s Relief Corps. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing cards and bingo, as well as, many fishing trips with her husband. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to Switzerland, where her grandfather came from. She had great pleasure tending her many flower gardens and feeding and watching the birds. Another great interest of hers was writing up family genealogy. Most of all, she enjoyed the visits with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Florence is survived by her husband, Arthur; three daughters, Shelbe (Robert) Lanam of Noblesville, IN; Patricia Zwahlen of Davison, MI; Jane (Bernard) Brandt of Cuba City, WI; eight grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; eighteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorita (Vernelle) Klein; sister-in-law, Marian Voigts and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard, granddaughter, Jody Brandt, her parents, sisters, Mabel Chadwick, Viola Grunewald, three brothers, Harold, Orville, Willard and two brothers in infancy, Delvin and Delbert, sisters-in-law, Catherine Voigts, and Ruth Voigts, and brothers-in-law, Floyd Grunewald and Pat Chadwick.
